The Chapungu Sculpture Park at Centerra is a great way to learn about African culture via unique sculptures. Learn about the history behind the sculptures by stopping at the plaques in front of them. Hike the easy Devil's Backbone Nature Trail or any of the other trails for different skill sets to get a wonderful view of Loveland. Learn about geology as you walk under and near rock formations. You can also hop onto a mountain bike and race down the trails in the nearly 2,200-acre area. Many visitors like to ride their horses, too, or to bring their dogs.
Bring plenty of water to keep you hydrated during your visit. Lather up on sunscreen if the sun is out. Make sure to watch out for rattlesnakes as well.
Looking for a casual place to walk, hike and look at wildlife? Head to the River's Edge Natural Area. There, you can catch bass, dragonfly and sandpiper fish, although bass is catch and release only. Make sure you bring a fishing license. If you bring a pair of binoculars, then maybe you can spot some native birds to Colorado like thrushes, crows, wrens, sapsuckers and red-tailed hawks.
The River's Edge Natural Area has five ponds and 3.8 miles of trails for your use. You can also hold an event at the amphitheater.
Fairgrounds Park was once fairgrounds, but now it serves as a place for you and your family to play and have fun. You can reserve a pavilion for an event, although this most likely wouldn't be free.
